The Reconstitution Solution is a sterile bacteriostatic water preparation containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol. It is specifically formulated for dissolving lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptide powders into a stable aqueous solution suitable for laboratory research applications.
Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which inhibits microbial growth and maintains sterility across multiple uses. Unlike single-use sterile water, bacteriostatic water allows a reconstituted peptide vial to remain stable for up to 4–6 weeks when stored under appropriate refrigerated conditions, making it the preferred diluent for multi-dose research vials.
The volume used depends on the specific peptide and the desired research concentration. A common laboratory standard is to add 1–2ml of Reconstitution Solution per vial, however researchers should calculate their required concentration based on peptide mass and intended experimental dosing parameters.
The solution should be injected slowly down the inner wall of the peptide vial rather than directly onto the lyophilized powder. The vial should then be gently swirled — never shaken — until the powder is fully dissolved. All handling should be performed in a sterile laboratory environment using appropriate aseptic techniques.
Unopened vials should be stored at room temperature away from direct light. Once opened, the solution should be refrigerated at 2–8°C and used within its indicated shelf life to ensure sterility and efficacy are maintained throughout the research period.
